We will be having events this September, October, November/December and in 2026 first weekend in May and July-Heritage Days. We need help prior to, cleaning, vacuuming floors/walls with shop vac, dusting and cleaning interior windows before events and help setting up tables, chairs, demonstration areas, and more. All supplies are furnished. Events are Sept. 18, Oct. 15/16th and November.

Volunteer: Volunteer Sexual Assault Advocate (Wartburg)

Become an advocate for sexual assault survivors today! Flexible hours for on-call shifts and respond in-person to area hospitals and law enforcement centers, provide support and resources to survivors of sexual assault. Available shifts are 5pm until 8am the next morning Monday-Friday, on Saturdays and Sundays shifts are from 8am until 8am the following day, and occasionally, 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

30 hour training is required and will be offered by Riverview Center. To see when future trainings are offered, please reach out to the Iowa Volunteer Coordinator by email, raechel@riverviewcenter.org.

Do you like helping people and are a morning person? This is the place for you in the WHC dining room.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     The dining room cashier tallies up a person’s food tray and charges them appropriately.

2.  An adding machine is available if you wish to use it. You will be supplied with a price sheet.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1.     Experience and Education:

o    Strong customer service skills. Friendly personality.

o    Comfortable with fast-paced environments.  

2.     Physical Demands:

o    Most of the shift is spent sitting.

o    Must be current on all immunizations and free of communicable disease.

3.     Mental Demands:

o    Ability to add prices or use an adding machine.

o    Ability to make correct change.

2.     Provide comfort measures to patients and family members (pillows, blankets, etc.)

3.     Relay messages from staff to family members.

4.     Restock supplies

5.     Run errands to other departments within WHC.

6.     Clerical tasks when requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1.  Experience and Education


Should be healthcare based or have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a healthcare fieldBLS certification (CPR) is recommended but not required.


2.  Physical Demands

Free of significant lifting restrictions. Must be current on all immunizations and free of communicable disease. 

3.  18 years of age or older.

Volunteers are required to make a minimum of a semester commitment. 

This opportunity is only available for pre-med students.
