What Does a Resource Line Volunteer Do?
Resource line volunteers answer calls from abuse victims, law enforcement, and/or hospital staff for victims of domestic violence. Shifts are from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Day, evening, and night hours are available on Saturday and Sunday.
Over the Phone Resource Line Volunteers Can Provide Callers to the Line With:
❏ Emotional support and service referrals
❏ Help victims understand their rights and options
❏ Inform victims of services the Domestic Abuse Resource Center has to offer
Requirements:
❏ Volunteers must be 18 years or older
❏ Attend a required online 20-hour training through ICADV (Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence)
❏ Possess an open, non-judgmental attitude towards survivors of domestic violence and their situation
❏ Complete a volunteer application, confidentiality form, position description, and volunteer agreement
❏ Complete a background check before volunteering begins
❏ Attend volunteer meetings with other volunteers, and the volunteer coordinator to touch base, when they are offered. __________________________________________________________________________________________________
